What is a breast lift?
Breast Lift Surgery in Thailand
Pregnancy, breastfeeding, and weight loss can stretch the breast tissue, leaving women unsatisfied with the shape of their breasts. Breast lift, also known as mastopexy, is a cosmetic surgery procedure that aims to restore a more youthful, perkier appearance to sagging breasts. During the surgery, excess skin is removed, and breast tissue is reshaped to raise, reshape, and firm the breasts. The procedure is best suited for women who are generally happy with the size of their breasts but seek to enhance their appearance for a perkier result.
Breast Lift Operational Techniques
-
Crescent Lift
The crescent lift technique involves using a crescent-shaped incision to remove a small amount of skin above the areola and reattaching the ends with very fine stitches. The crescent incision pattern is typically used in cases with only mild sagging or drooping, and it is best suited for patients with smaller breasts.
-
Donut Lift
When the breast lift is combined with breast augmentation, doughnut mastopexy is an option. The technique involves removing a circular-shaped piece of skin from around the areola and closing the incision with stitches along the gap where skin has been removed. One of the main advantages of the doughnut lift is that the incision marks are hidden in the natural creases of the areola with no vertical scars on the breasts. Good candidates for the donut lift are women with small or medium-sized breasts with only mild breast sagging.
-
Lollipop Lift
The most versatile of breast lift techniques, the lollipop lift, involves combining an incision around the areola with a vertical incision that runs downwards from the bottom. The surgeon will lift the nipple and the areola to their new position and close the incisions with stitches. The final result is an incision pattern in the shape of a lollipop. This approach is often favoured because it produces a better appearance of the vertical scar and allows the surgeon to elevate the areola to a higher, more youthful-looking position. Women with mild to moderate sagging breasts can expect favourable outcomes with the lollipop technique.
-
Anchor Lift
If you have a significant amount of breast sagging, your surgeon may recommend an anchor lift. The anchor lift is the oldest breast lift technique and is often performed when a breast lift is combined with breast reduction.
The surgeon will make an incision around the areola and then a vertical one running downwards from the bottom of the areola to the breast crease. A third incision is made horizontally along the breast crease, with the final incision pattern forming an anchor shape. It is also known as the inverted T breast lift.
This technique produces the most scarring; therefore, it’s typically recommended for women who need a more effective correction of sagging breasts than other, less invasive techniques.
-
Breast Lift & Augmentation
A breast lift is often combined with breast augmentation surgery. A combined technique may be preferable to stand-alone surgery when the breasts have lost significant volume due to breastfeeding or weight loss.
This combination procedure aims to help women achieve their breasts' ideal size and shape.
